Hello! I'm the founder of om my yoga, and for alot of your classes, I'll be your guide. So I suppose I should tell a little about myself! There was a time in my life that I was running really fast, without feeling quite certain about where I wanted to end up. I decided to race to career land, receiving my B.A. in marketing and beginning law school. When life forced me to slow down, I took some time to stop and actually think about what I truly wanted to do. Considering my life-long love of sports and fitness, I decided that just maybe, I could find great fulfillment by taking my passions and making a career out of them.
Six months later, I began personal training and teaching yoga, and the real journey began. I am an ACE certified Personal-trainer, holding RPM and Zumba certifications and pilates training on both mat and apparatus. In Yoga, my true love, I am an E-RYT, RYT 500 with almost a decade of teaching experience.
In addition to teaching yoga STUDENTS, I love to train yoga TEACHERS. I have taught all over the country (and even a bit outside the country) at teacher training workshops, and love the inspirational ripple-effect that occurs when mentoring a person to take their practice to the next level and then share the gift of yoga with others. This year, I founded the brand new RYS (registered yoga school) "Om My Yoga Academy." This Yoga-Alliance approved 200 hour program is set to roll out in January, 2013 in Maryland, Florida and of course--Right in Camp Hill at Om My Yoga. I can't wait to share the passion I have for teaching with others who want to do the same through this amazing school and be fully prepared to teach yoga themselves!
Outside the studio, I'm a mom to two amazing kiddos, an 8-time marathoner, (with a few Boston's in the mix, a bucket list goal I was so excited to achieve!) a triathlete, a lover of music and dance, an adventurous traveler, a total daredevil, and a tender and sensitive spirit. Im an essential oil lover, and spend alot of time studying and sharing the healing powers of DoTERRA oils as I use them every day on myself, my family and my classes!
The moving meditation of vinyasa yoga has been liberating and healing on so many levels for me, and I am full of passion to share this incredible gift with others. I love to help people achieve a good workout, a relaxing break, some time that is all about them, a change in their body or a change in their attitude. I firmly believe that there is NO ONE that could not benefit greatly from adding a yoga and/or pilates practice to their lives. Men, women, young people, "mature" (yea, you know what I mean) people, athletes, overweight folks (yes, you can!), stressed ones, and busy ones...they can all gain alot from this practice, and I think I can help them to realize that. Some beautiful teacher-trainer students of mine said this in their recent class promotion, and I just love it...."You don't come to yoga because you are flexible, balanced and strong. You come to yoga to become flexible, balanced and strong. In other words, come as you are." I hope I can help guide you into an even more wonderful version of what you bring to the mat each time in the door.
Well I've told you a bit of my story....Please come in to om my yoga. Share a practice with me, and tell me a bit of yours! I can't wait to meet you....Namaste!

When I started practicing yoga in 2008, I had just given birth to my youngest son. And like many people, my first goal was to improve my body. I had practiced many exercise routines in the past--aerobics, jogging, pilates--but I found that yoga not only trained my body, it was a salve for my mind. Yoga became my center. It was the thing that allowed me to regain my sense of calm when interacting with two very young sons and our increasingly hectic life.
Given time to reflect, I realize now that yoga is the perfect extension of the way I live my life off the mat. A vegan since 2000, I am incredibly conscious of the fuel that I feed my body. My husband and I grow, preserve and enjoy most of the produce that we consume. If you feed your body junk, let it languish without exercise and surround yourself with a negative environment, you will feel sick, sluggish and depressed. Yoga is like healthy food--it makes you stronger mentally as well as physically.
You'll hear me say, "we've brought our bodies to the mat. Now it is time to bring our minds". I don't know of any other workout that leaves you feeling so physically challenged, but also so calm, centered and relaxed. Yoga is inclusive. I'm frustrated when people say to me, "I can't do yoga, I'm not flexible". Maybe we shouldn't be so focused on how flexible our body is, but on the flexibility of our mind. We need to let go of our prejudices about ourselves and others (mostly ourselves!) and realize that we all have something to gain through the practice of yoga. And when we begin to let go, when we bring our minds to the mat, we surprise ourselves with how far we can take our bodies.

I’ve been studying yoga for years and I still cannot say how a triangle or a downward facing dog or a juicy plow has changed who I am. All I know is that this ancient practice works!
Yoga has changed the way I view the world, the way I speak, what I say to people and what I choose not to say. It has had a profound impact on my relationships, my outlook and my happiness.
Yoga has helped me to honor and respect my body, to stop pushing it to an elusive ideal and to accept with compassion its limitations – though it urges me to test its limits with a sense of joy and play.
In the fall of 2010, I enrolled in the 200-hour yoga teacher training program at Power Yoga Works in Philadelphia, a Baron Baptiste power yoga affiliate studio. I am a few hours away from completing the 200 hours and completing requisite course work in order to be a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance. I love sharing the gift of yoga and approach it as service.
When I’m not on the mat, I love to garden, run and hike. I’m a foodie and I love wine – and I love spending time with my husband and two daughters.

The way I got to yoga was after a car accident that was back in 2000 when I was a Certified Athletic Trainer. When I was ready to exercise again, my doctor sent me to yoga. At first I thought, "Why yoga?", and then I experienced my first class. Afterwards, I felt great; no back pain for the first time since I started exercising again. I continued my yoga journey while living in Fayetteville, NC. Next question is how did I get to Pennsylvania? Well being married to the military for so long moving was no big deal. Once here I continued my yoga at Sharon Wells' studio. I love power yoga, but when she introduced me to a yin yoga class, I noticed my back feeling better after each class.
Next journey, I decided in 2011 to get my 200 hours certification and completed and certified February 2012. While on my journey to becoming a yoga teacher, I thought of so many styles I wanted to teach until I went to a workshop with Paul and Suzi Grilley. After that, I knew Yin yoga would be one style I would teach. Next workshop I attend was Anjali restorative yoga with Shannon Paige. Yin and Restorative yoga are both complementary to any style yoga and giving us all a well needed break from our chaotic lives. Over the next several years, I plan to continue studies under Paul and Suzi Grilley.

I first fell in love with Pilates as an acting/dance major in college, when I took my first Mat class. After graduation I continued to seek out classes wherever I lived but it never occurred to me that I could teach it myself until I was asked to choreograph dance numbers for several different theatre groups and discovered within myself a strong ability for movement coaching. At the time, I was working toward a career in nonprofit management but my heart wasn't in it; the minute I considered teaching Pilates, I knew that it's what I'm meant to be doing.
For the past two years, I've been teaching group Mat classes for specific populations – runners, actors, and dancers – as well as general Mat classes and private clients, most of whom were working on rebuilding their abdominal muscles after giving birth. I love the therapeutic aspects of Pilates and design my classes to ensure that my clients are building good functional strength in addition to having fun and working up a sweat. I'm Mat-Certified through Balanced Body and currently working toward attaining my Reformer certification as well, with additional apparatus certifications soon to follow, and possibly some yoga as well!

I am a dancer, choreographer and yoga instructor. I am of Indian origin and grew up in the Camp Hill area. As a child, I started learning a form of south Indian classical dance, Bharatanatyam, and Bollywood dance, within the central PA Indian community. I then moved to Madras, India in 1996 to study at the most reputed institution for classical Indian dance and aesthetics. My yoga training has been under some of the most respected teachers coming from the BKS Iyengar, Sivananda traditions, and I've studied and am certified in Mysore style Ashtanga/Vinyasa technique with Sampoorna Yoga for Body, Mind and Soul (Goa, India, YA RYT/200 hr). I have an extensive background in contemporary dance, having worked with one of India's most important contemporary choreographers from 2000-2004, after which I studied at Europe’s leading conservatory for performing arts, P.A.R.T.S., in Brussels, Belgium. My yoga practice and teaching is infused with a refined knowledge of the body gained through professional dance training, focusing on alignment and technique within asana practice. I have been teaching dance and yoga in India and Europe for the past 10 years, and have recently moved back to the Harrisburg area.

Yoga had been an extension of my fitness regimen for years prior to kids. Once I had my first child, fitness had taken a halt. After my twins were born, I was determined to get back into shape so I trained for my first triathlon and started yoga again. This time around yoga was more than just added strength training I felt more of a mind shift as well. I was less stressed and had a more positive outlook.
I have always wanted to work with youth. When I met my husband we were leaders of a Sr. High School Youth Group for a local church for six years. Now I enjoy working and playing with my four children. I enjoy practicing yoga with my three elder children and seeing them anticipating our sessions. It's amazing being able to teach kids the importance of breath awareness, focus, channeling our energy and having fun!
