OMYA 200-Hour Teacher Training Modules

Module 1: Roots

Coming to the Mat

Begin your journey by grounding in the roots of yoga. In this powerful opening weekend, we explore what yoga truly is: its origins, its ancient traditions, and how it has evolved into the many styles we see today. Whether you’re a longtime student or new to the mat, this module offers an inclusive and inspiring foundation.
You’ll be introduced to essential postures, breathwork, and meditation, and begin our study of yoga philosophy, history, and self-inquiry. This is where your path begins — with curiosity, connection, and a return to yourself.

Module 2: Teach

Finding Your Inner Teacher

This module invites you to listen deeply to your own voice and step into your role as a guide. We’ll explore the art of sequencing, class structure, and how to build meaningful themes into your teaching. You’ll learn to communicate with clarity and authenticity, both on and off the mat.
We’ll also dive into the powerful ethical foundation of yoga through the Yamas and Niyamas. Journaling and reflection help you integrate these ancient principles and develop your unique teaching voice. This is a weekend of transformation and empowerment.

Module 3: Embodiment

Exploring the Yogic Body

In this integrative weekend, we explore the miracle of the human body along with its subtle energy system. You’ll learn key concepts of anatomy, alignment, and injury prevention, with practical application to standing poses, hip openers, forward folds, backbends, twists, and inversions.
We also explore the energetic aspects of yoga, including the Koshas and Chakras, and gain tools to support the nervous system. This module is hands-on, inspiring, and filled with insight to help you move with awareness and teach with confidence.

Module 4: Self-Study

Deepening Your Practice

This powerful module turns our focus inward. Through meditation, sacred sound, chanting, and journaling, we begin to explore yoga as an interior path of transformation. You’ll cultivate awareness, compassion, resilience, and connection to your own deeper truths.
We’ll study the Yoga Sutras and examine the nature of the mind, while also exploring Sanskrit and the impact of your environment on nervous system regulation. This weekend supports personal healing and grounded self-inquiry.

Module 5: Off the Mat

Living a Yogic Life

What does it mean to truly live yoga? In this module, we explore the yogic lifestyle through the lens of the Four Paths of Yoga, holistic health, personal values, and spiritual alignment. You’ll learn practical ways to implement Ayurveda and bring intention into your daily life.
We’ll dive into the Bhagavad Gita, exploring its timeless messages of courage, purpose, and inner wisdom. This is an inspiring weekend that helps you carry yoga from your mat into your life and leadership.

Module 6: Realization

Coming Full Circle

Our final module brings everything together. We’ll review the key postures and principles of the OMYA training, explore teaching adaptations, and embrace practices like Yin, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.
We’ll also cover the business of yoga, goal-setting, and your personal path forward. This is a joyful, reflective, and celebratory weekend that prepares you to take the next step — whether that’s teaching or simply living your yoga with deeper awareness.
